The generous team at Pollination Project gave us a wonderful boost in furnishing our new safe house. Thanks to them, we have beds, tables and bookcases.
THE HERSHEY GIRL SCOUTS – EXPLORADORAS
In November, Spirit received a generous donation from the troop fundraising. They sent beautiful calculators, clothes and a generous check. Becada Cesia wrote to her godmother: “a group of girls scouts worked and gave us a donation; between that donation we had pencils with a beautiful phrase: Girls do great things and I love it. We had two letters from scouts, we´ll email them. It is a very good way to practice English to us and to be grateful. There is a girl that is learning Spanish too. She is writing very well. I´m thinking exchange letters and we both could have more practice.”
DENTAL: Donors and Volunteers
Rotary US and Spirit created a community clinic and volunteer program to provide dental care to our girls, their families and the community. Many thanks for the teams that came from the USA, England, Singapore, Kenya, Bermuda and Australia. They were wonderful! Unfortunately, we had to terminate the program due to severe local clinic funds mismanagement and missing or destroyed equipment. Our program is now supported by:
A recent dental school graduate is providing free care for the becadas. She has also generously offered care for their families as a grade performance reward. Spirit still provides most of the materials.
SMART PRACTICE HEALTHCARE
Dental supplies are very expensive, so thanks to Jim and Yolanda, who are wonderful friends of Spirit’s goal to help the poor. Through their generosity, we are able to take down a large part of the necessary materials.
Has also been a consistent friend of Spirit’s work. They provide the expensive amalgams, resins and polishing drill bits. Without their help, we would be unable to fill the 25-30 large cavities in each girl’s mouth, making brilliant huge smiles. Thank you Marsha, Connie and Tabetha!
One of our sponsors and now board member, has donated wonderful clothes and accessories. The girls love the trendy bags and “Pink” clothes.
They have generously joined in the effort of building the scholarship residence with a huge assortment of electrical supplies and door parts. Their expertise in planning was also invaluable. Thank you Benjamin and Jay.
